Actually, Prozac and Paxil belong to the same class of medications known as SSRI'S. Therefore, the two drugs work very similiarly. However, if you are experiencing anxiety, I would definitely take the Paxil instead of the Prozac. Prozac is actually an activating antidepressant which can make the symptoms of anxiety worse. Paxil is marketed for anxiety and has a somewhat sedating effect and should be taken at bedtime until you find out how it effects you. 10mg of Paxil is a low dosage so if it doesn't take away most of your symptoms within a month I would ask the physician to increase the dose or add another anti-anxiety medication.
