My symptoms are not getting any better. I am 25 years old and was diagnosed 6 months ago and the symptoms seem to have gotten worse. I have been hesitant to start plaquenil because of side effects and I was hoping I would get better (I guess hopefulness) but truth is I have gotten worse. I have developed more things other than what I had which were dry mouth and stomach problems I have also now developed difficulty breathing, heart palpitations, tingling in fingers, sinhs problems and constant temporal pain etc. So, I guess my question is what do you guys advice and have any of you felt any similar symptoms?
I am so sorry that such a young person such as yourself has the need to take Plaquenil. Please do some research about side effects AND talk to your doctor, and possibly get a second opinion, because only you can determine whether the benefit of taking the med outweighs the side effects. Such as the potential, however low it may be, to cause eye problems. FYI, lots of people are on low doses of it and only take it at night. It helps to take it at night for me because it causes headaches in me.
I wish you well.
I was the same way with the plaquenil. Very hesitant to take it after reading the potential side effects. The drug has helped me a lot. My eyes and mouth aren't as dry. My mild joint pain is all but gone. I do have similar symptoms as you. I take a separate medication for my heart. It controls the inappropriate sinus tachycardia I have. See your ophthalmologist 2x a year to have your eyes checked. Plaquenil is a life saving drug for many with autoimmune diseases. It also can help with disease progression and minimize flares .
Yes, I have all you listed and more, can't open a jar, just like you not been wanting to take it, looks like we both need to start, I'm 58 and it took 10 years to find out what's wrong, got the drug, and don't want to take it either, its sitting on a shelf for three weeks, I'm finding it hard to walk on my feet some days so tired I don't want to get out of bed. dry eyes, wrist pain and joint, sinus infections, it has lowered my white blood cell count, reading your post, I know I'm not along, let's just try it, fingers crossed for both of us.
