My 6 year old cat has signs of FIP but I dont understand how she would have contracted it? She is completely indoors and is the only cat in the house. She was vaccinated every year since a kitten up until 2 years ago. I have tapped her stomach and got yellowish mucusy fluid and she isnt eating at all and very lethargic. I have been giving her B12 injections, SQ fluids and also giving her prednisolone and clavamox orally. Im not sure yet if she has FIP or Liver Diease but would it be bad or beneficial to give her Liver 7 injection?
I hope you are talking to the Vet you work with for advise? Have you asked about their seeing your animal? I have worked for docs who would see me or my immediate family members for free since I was an employee so I cant imagine a Vet wouldnt do the same for an employees animals! Even though you are a Vets assistant doesnt mean you can replace a Vet any more than since I am a nurse I could replace a Dr. You should see if your Vet will see your pet or at least give you a discounted rate! This isnt something you should be trying to treat on your own.
I can't believe that you are a vet assistant and the vet that you work for won't treat your own pet in the clinic that you work at!!! That is awful!! I hope that the vet is at least advising you on how you are treating your cat! I know ppl who are vet assistants and they have free access to the clinic that they work in for the care of their pets when they get sick, I just can't believe that they won't care for your pet for free or at least on a payment plan since you work for them... that is just mean and cruel!
Anyway... I am sorry that your kitty is sick and I hope things get better.
