I am taking Ritalin for narcolepsy and I want to know if it is safe to take ginseng?
Ginseng is an herb and has been used in alternative medicine as a possibly effective aid in lowering blood sugar patients with diabetes type 2, and for respiratory infections. Other uses not proven with research have included attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), breast cancer, cancer related fatigue, menopausal symptoms, memory loss, anemia, insomnia, bleeding disorders, digestive disorders and other conditions.
Medicinal use of ginseng has not been approved by the FDA therefore there is limited literature available about potential drug interactions.
You should check with your doctor before taking ginseng.
