It depends on your pain tolerance but no it shouldnt "hurt". They numb up the area, make a small incision, grab a hold of the device and it should slide right out. Sometimes it gets scar tissue around it and it makes it more difficult or it migrates and they have trouble finding it. If you can locate it with your fingers, they shouldnt have trouble removing it. It may feel a little tender that day and the next few but beyond that, you should be fine.
