I've been taking lexapro for 5 months now and I've gone up from 10 to 15 mg which helped a good amount. But I feel like I still might need to go up to 20mg. Is generic lexapro not as effective or weaker than brand name? Should I ask my doc to switch me to brand name or just go up to 20mg of generic?
AC18 really this is normal they start you on a low dose and gradually increase the dose. The Generic has the same amount of active ingredients as the brand name the only difference is the binders in the generic.ALSO do not ever get confused with MG of the drug each drug is different it's like comparing apple to oranges you can't think that because one drug is 10mg and another is 100mg that one is weaker than the other. Which in fact on many of these newer ssri medications the 10 or 20mg could be close to 100mg of another drug If it were me and I would ask for the 20mg which is closer to the adult dose. Good luck Chuck1957
