I just started on this after I had my son which is two months now I really like not having a period and I've heard a lot that if you skip the brown placebo pills you won't have one just wondering if this is true or is there a birth control that stops your periods completely but is also a good contraception as well !
There are extended-cycle birth control pills available. With these birth control pills you take an active tablet every day for 3 months (84 days) followed by a different active tablet for 7 days. You usually get your period during this time. If this appeals talk with your doctor to see if it is safe for you.
If you choose not to take the brown tablets you will skip your period for this cycle. This is ok to do every now and then but if you want to start skipping periods on a regular basis you may be better to take an extended-cycle pill.
Depo provera stops periods and acts as a contraceptive. Its an IM injection every 12 weeks. ive used it for many years and swear by it. the only down side of depo is that it promotes bone loss. I just take an extra calcium supplement and have a bone density test ever 2 years. after long use, your pcp will advise you to skip a few months and use other methods, but then can return to depo.
I have been doing depo on and off for the last 6 years and my bone health is just dense as before i started ( i had a base line done density test prior to starting depo) i am a big supported of depo provera.
