... Does this medicine work and will it make me feel worse? How long till i feel something kick in, side effects, etc?
Like You I have GAD, And Had First starting Getting Panic attacks at age 14, PAXIL Helped Me very well then, and it only took about a week , Maybe 10 days to build up in my system. My Dr told me that it takes up to a Month, but for me that was not the case, everyone knows their own body. Since I have beeen on many Different SSRI's and none really work, when I have an Anxiety Attack, I take a Xanax right away, and it helps almost instantly, But Clonazapan is effective because it has a longer shelf life, meaning it stays in your system longer, but most DR's wont prescribe both. By the way Clonazapan really helped when I was taking Paxil, so Good Luck.
I took paxil in the past and it worked well for me although
I was somewhat tired in the afternoon. It worked within
two weeks for me but I am usually a quick responder.
Hopefully it will do the same for you. The only side
effect I had was the tiredness but it did help my anxiety
tremendously. My pdoc gave me Xanax for anxiety
to use until the paxil kicked in and it helped a lot also.
I am now on Zoloft which I like even better but I would
consider paxil again if my zoloft stops working.
I was on Paxil very successfully for 10 years but I'm vain and wanted to lose weight. I had been working out and eating well but lost 5lbs in a time span where I should have lost about 20lbs. Two doctors said the Paxil was the likely culprit. I was swithched to Viibryd and have had worse panic attacks than I remember having before the Paxil. I've also had a consistent sense of dread for the last 2 months as the weaning and switching have been going on.
I finally went back on the Paxil in the 5th of June. I am slowly improving but it's not there yet. I may have to go back up to 40 even though the doctor says that is too much. He is worried about my sex drive or lack there of. I am not, I don't miss what I don't want and being interested in men would be even more depressing right now given my current work situation. However, I still want to lose weight and hope I can do it with the Paxil. These panic attacks are horrible. I'm hoping for some miracle on Day 14 (I'm on 12 now??? ) but expect it to fully kick in sometime around July 4th.
