... anxiety. What about Xanax or Klonopin? I have severe anxiety and depression. I lost a son almost six years ago and the pain, anxiety and depression are still very fresh. So I find the Benzodiazepines to be the most help. I won't touch an antidepressant.

I am on klonopin .5 3 times daily id suggest this first. Klonopin is a very long acting benzo you can take it 3 times daily and will be in your blood at a constant level all day long. I also have Xanax .5 but only take it when the anxiety gets really bad and the klonopin dosent help it. I'm also on Zoloft which is great in combo with benzos but thats not a option since you don't want antidepressants. Hope I helped
Why won't you take an antidepressant. I'd take them over benzos. Have you had grief counseling? We still grieve, I lost the love of my life about 6 yrs ago, and while I miss him more now than in the beginning, my day to day life has to go on. I do take an antidepressant, I did before he was diagnosed with cancer. I worked for the first 5 yrs after he died, so it kept me busy.
Since this is a long term thing I'd suggest Klonopin. I agree with .5 mg 2 or 3 times a day. Long term use of any Benzo will cause a physical dependency which is another reason Klonopin is better. It's easier to wean off of when you don't need it any longer. Another problem with Xanax is you start craving it after 3 to 4 months.
I was on Xanax and it worked better but I took it daily and became dependent on it. I weaned off it and it was very unpleasant. But since I still had anxiety I agreed with the doc to switch to Klonopin. It's just better for daily long term use.
Touch antidepressant sorry to hear about your son but Xanax isn't an everyday use thing that bad for you. You have to go and get better man that's all there is to it. Go see a therapist if you don't like the one you see first go to another if 18 I've been going to the same one 4 years. 100 visits she great she's like family to me. I know people say I know how you feel and usually I call bullshit on that. But I do man I've never lost a son worst thing that could possibly happen to me if I had one I want one so badly and I feel so bad for you so no I haven't lost a son but I've missed almost my whole high school career to depression and anxiety. Been through countless meds. I know how hard depression feels man and Xanax is effectively getting you high everyday so you don't have to think about it. Please man do this for me and take 3 steps please. Try a therapist, go to a psychiatrist, and try a anti depressant they do wonders man.
Please take it from someone that had it really rough too. Your gonna say you don't know what it's like to lose a son and your right but I know a ton about anxiety and depression and if you take the right steps things will get better. I'll keep this forum in mind if you want to chat or something just respond and let me know what I think will help and stuff
