Hi, Ruthie! Most people who experience side effects when starting an antidepressant find that they resolve over just a few days to a week or two. Some people report starting to feel better within a week or two but it can take three to four weeks to feel the positive effects. It generally takes six to eight weeks for your blood levels to reach therapeutic levels and then it's smooth sailing.
Unfortunately, psychotropic drugs take awhile to kick in, unlike drugs like aspirin and insulin, so you have to have patience and try to be aware of small daily improvements.
Stay in close touch with your doctor who needs to be made aware of your progress and you should always feel free to post here with any questions and concerns you may have.
Best wishes to you, Wildcat
