I am having gastric bypass surgery this summer and will not be able to swallow pills for three months. Pills or capsules will tear my staple line. I will not be able to drink much liquid either (ie., water to wash down meds). Is their a liquid version of Venlafaxine 150mg or something I could take instead?
There is no commercial Venlafaxine liquid available.
You will need to talk with both the prescriber and your bypass specialist. Together they will be able to decide what's best. You may need to have your dosage altered for a while and crush the tablets into a small amount of fluid. If that is not possible you may need to get your pharmacist involved as well. They may be able to come up with a solution - it may be possible to formulate a liquid version just for you. It is good to think about these things now. All the best.
