1st pregnancy when I went from 150lbs to 397lbs. I opted for Roux en y gastric bypass surgery. I lost the weight, but ended up with complications unexplained anemia. Iron transfusions, blood transfusions than finally a hysterectomy. I finally ended up with a good pain management Dr. After reviewing my records he put me on fentanyl patch 100mcg. My question is I'm not absorbing any of my break through meds. Any suggestions. Because during this whole process I was just diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. I'm not a drinker. I can't take the pain anymore and I'm considering spinal surgery. But I'm terrified because of the medication issues. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi. I know nothing about gastric bypass surgery. I have chronic pain for 14 yrs now. Please be careful and do everything you can before getting surgery. I am only guessing that your not absorbing your breakthrough meds due to the bypass surgery. Talk to your doctor. I know there are some meds that come in an oral solution instead of pill form. You may be able to absorb that better. Just a thought. I hope you find an answer and best wishes to you.
