I was on 150mg effector 3/yrs now dr uped it to 225mg I've been taking for about a week at 225mg how long does the extra 75mg take to kick in feel better? I also take 15mg of remron to sleep works great been on that for 16yrs.. The last 3 days I have taken 1x a day 0.5mg Xanax to relax is that ok? I'd like some help as I feel like I'm at the beginning again it's tough to enjoy or plan for anything.. Drive, be sociable just wanna live again I HATE THIS DISABILITY!! Any help would be appreciated thank you..
You'll begin to notice an improvement within another week or so. It is OK to take the Xanax as prescribed, but try not to get in the habit of depending on. It is addictive to your system and if taken regularly you'll eventually have to taper off in order to stop. Hopefully, the increase in Effexor will be enough to give you back a sense of enjoyment. Living with a disability does suck and it is possible to reach a level of recovery that the bad episodes become far between. Hang in there and thank you.
Hi, i agree with Laurie regarding the Xanax... it is OK to take a small dose (0.5mg) to relieve stress and anxiety, but it is highly addictive, so just take care... you should notice the difference from the increased dose of Effexor soon, maybe continue the daily Xanax dose until you are feeling better. Do you get any support from counselling or CBT etc?
