What is a good schedule for gabapentin reduction. Maximum does 1200mg/day, now down to 900/day. Working with doctor but unsure he knows what the correct next step is.
In regards to gabapentin being a scheduled drug-- it is not a narcotic, but from personal experience will agree that taper schedule should be established. I was on a small dose as a result of back surgery with a long time nerve pain. I was only taking 300mg daily at night to alleviate nighttime aches. Upon stopping, i experienced both nausea and increased nerve pain. I had to step down to 100 mg, and then the same dose every other day. I then successfully stopped, the residual symptoms lasted about 2 weeks. Obviously everyone reacts differently, that was my experience however.
