Hi, Cheryl! Gabapentin is most commonly prescribed to treat anxiety that's associated with Bipolar disorders although it is not FDA approved for this use. It's usually used as adjunct (add-on) therapy to the mood stabilizer lithium, or the anti-convulsants such as Lamictal, Topomax, etc.
