ive heard 300 mg and 600 mg which would be better, as well as each dose
I agree, the maximum dose is 3600mgs. There is no "normal dose" as kaismama has indicated, it's different for everyone. Your doctor may start you out on a low dose (300mgs) and up the dosage if you don't respond to such a low dose.
Do be aware of the side effects, if you go above to the blue bar, Drugs A to Z -(search engine will guide you) read the side effects so you know if you are experiencing any that your doctor needs to be aware of. It's in your best interest to do that, or have your spouse or a friend read the side effects so they can tell if your behavior has changed in any way.
Gabapentin can cause a bit of memory loss or cognitive impairment, as well as other things that you really should read about, if you can do so.
I agree with evey one else... But as others have said, your Dr. will start you on a low dosage to begin with & then if you need more they should increase the dosage up slowly.
Also if you start to have side effects you may want to ask your Dr. about trying Lyrica as it is a sister to Gabapentin but may react differently than the Lyrica.
Best of luck, Kathy
