I have read somewhere that it can be used for nerve pain. It is possible that it could make you sleepy, medicines have different effects for different people. This may also be a question to bring to your doctor's attention. Doesn't hurt to ask, especially when it comes to your health.
Gabapentin is for neuropathy:pain, tingling and numbness due to nerve problems like nerve impingement. It's also used for a wide variety of other problems. Here are some of them: epilepsy, bipolar disorder, postherpetic neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, diabetic neuropathy, anti-seizure, partial seizure, phobia, analgesic, anticonvulsant, RLS (restless legs syndrome).
