Dr wants to do third surgery to remove some hardware and looss screw went for another opinion and that dr made me apt to twin city spine center. I really don't want another surgery and also want to know if anyone has had any pain pumps or stimulators put into spine? So confused and not sure wjat I should do help.
I first had a 2-level fusion at L4-S1 with cages. The fusion didn't take. Then they fused it again with rods and screws. No real improvement in pain or in neuropathy. Now I have a spinal cord stimulator - it reduces the pain/burning/tingling in my legs about 30%. Normally you do a trial before (as a procedure) and if you get a 50% drop in pain, then they do the implant and you should get 70-80% reduction. I wasn't able to have a trial due to all the arthritis in my back - I had to have the implant surgery and we just hoped it would help. It did help, but didn't give me my life back. If your pain is mostly from nerve damage, talk to your pain specialist about doing the trial. It can't hurt! EJ23
