I have been on antibiotics (doxycycline) for about 2 months. it still has not cleared up, in fact it is worse than before I started but less bad than the first couple of weeks I took it. When I went off antibiotics for 3 days it really flared up so I went back on them. Would it be different now it has been 2 months? any way to tell if it is fungal or bacterial? If you have answers to any of these questions please contact me, I desperately need some answers.
anonymiss;111; Sounds like you are really having problems with this, All that information I sent you I have had customers that are on this for as much as a year or more. In extreme cases!!! Also skin problems can go on for quite some time. The way I see it my friend is to do one of two things stay on the antibiotic, When do you see the doctor again? and also number two would be get a second Opinion. Long term use of Doxycycline is not uncommon at all. But what well hurt is if you keep starting and stopping them. You need to keep a constant blood level.everytime you stop them your running a risk of becoming immune to them. Stay on them or see the doctor again. This really is pretty common. As common as each hair on your body. Go back and read the one I sent you this antibiotic well work be it bacterial, Or Fungal. I really think your okay you just have to stay on it or go back to the doctor and have them double check you.
yes, I really am. I wish I never started antibiotics in the first place as my folliculitis was not that bad to begin with, just 1-5 breakouts and now it is so many more. My dermatologist did not warn me of the initial breakouts and seemed surprised when I rang to ask about it. I just thought by now it would be showing some sort of improvement. Every time it does I get new breakouts. I am seeing the dermatologist in 2 weeks and she has taken a swab for a biopsy. She did say to quit doxy in the meantime but I just fear if I stop now, then it could make it worse still as I have heard this happens when quitting doxy. I heard somewhere that if it is fungal then antibiotics make it worse, but not doxy? I have been trying to see review for doxy for folliculitis online but have only found them for acne.
