I have never heard of that before so was wondering if it was safe to start someone who has never had a prescription for any related drugs before at 150? I thought they started at 25-50 then increased from there.
Hi, Mis! Zoloft can be safely dosed to a maximum of 200mg daily although patients are usually started at lower doses to determine the lowest effective dose and to avoid the initial side effects that a few people experience. 25-50mg is standard with increases of dosage as needed.
Perhaps your friend's doctor determined that these lower doses would not be effective in her/his case due to the severity of the illness?
Best wishes, WCV
