His Cardiologist told him to not take the medication anymore on 12/2013. All he was left to take was crestor. He died on 01/05/2014. We were never told how serious his situation was, he had a Dr.s appt. on 01/03/2014 and was told he was a very sick man and told to go to the hospital, he was admitted and passed away 01/05/2014 at 7 a.m. Should he have been taken off this med?
I'm not going to second guess a doc when not knowing what was wrong with him to start with. He could have been sent to the hospital for something unrelated to his circulatory problems, and died of something unrelated to them. Clopidigrel certainly isn't a miracle drug that makes you live forever, and can do damage in the wrong situations.
I am truly sad to read about this. I had a massive heart attach and 3 stents last year and take clopidogrel. That is a question that is YES, NO, MAYBE because everybody reacts differently to medications. My dad who was put on it at 70, quit taking it 5 years ago and is doing great at 82. He calls it rat poisioning, he had horrible side effects. Me, it works as far as my cardiologist and labs show with no side effects. I am really sorry about your loss...
