Hello I'm new here. I fractured my foot in three places I fell in the bathroom and fell on top of my right foot - this happen three weeks feels like it was yesterday because I'm still in pain. They gave the a script of hydrocodone it only take the edge off - I'm taking my regular pain meds tramadol 50 mg two tab take 3 x a day as needed..
All my toes are all black. The bottom of my foot is still bruised you can see the blackness and it does hurt when I walk. Is this normal, what is causing this to hurt and the color?
I still wear the cast and have a shoe especially made for my foot. I'm able to get around I have a powerchair so it helps so much. I can walk with a cane when I'm not in too much pain.
Pain level right now is a 8-9
The discoloration is a bruising by-product of the injury, just so long as your Dr knows about it, if not, you should report it immediately. What other support were you hoping to find?
I haven't heard from you lately as somehow my private message option I turned off by mistake.
But I have it fixed now if you want to send me one.
I know we spoke about this a couple weeks ago.
I am sorry you are in so much pain still. Unfortunately as I said before it takes A VERY LONG time for injured feet to heal. And yes the bruising
(black color) will last for And as far as the pain it will be there for a while. Especially since you fractured several bones. When are you suppose to get the cast off or is it just a soft cast you can take off yourself? Also do you have an appt with a Podiatrist (dr. that takes care of feet) ?
But it is Totally normal for you to still have the dis-coloring of your foot.
You have to realize that it was not just the fracture of the bones & there are ALOT of bones in your feet. But you also would have put a strain on some of the muscles & tendons of your feet.
Definately make sure when you have to be up on your feet to wear the UGLY shoe they give you. It is made to help support your foot when you are walking.
Luckily you have your power chair.
As I explained to you I had two toes that I had surgery on in one year that were damaged. And now a year later if I am on my feet for very long I get alot of pain
So be patient as there is not much more you can do. Well take care off yourself,
Hi Abby - sorry sweetie, there is support here, but we usually answer people 's questions. Often we make friends with some of the regulars if you'd like to stick around? Sorry, I've never broken a bone so I can 't help you there. I'm sure it hurts! Take care - ElizaJane
