Because I was only taking one 10mg zolpidem allows me to only sleep 3-4 hours, I was wondering if taking two 10 mg of zolpidem would be more effective
I would just continue on the 10 mg. Give it some time. Make sure you follow all the recommended preparations before you go to bed. Don't eat anything for 3 hours before bedtime so that you take it on an empty stomach. No TV, no reading, no internet or phone games. Room completely dark. Take your pill and lie down ready to sleep. It kicks in quickly on an empty stomach.
There was a time when if I got 4 hours of uninterrupted sleep, I was ecstatic. But that was when I was still working. Now I'm retired, and I don't take zolpidem anymore.
Just try following the guidelines I gave you above and see if it helps. Advise anyone in your household not to interrupt you with noise or coming in your room. It really does work if the guidelines are followed.
If after trying all that you still can't sleep, maybe, it is time to try another brand.
