This makes the skin around my eyes very swollen and red. What could I be using that would cause this. It started about two years ago. Thanks.
They use potassium chromate to tan leather. It is used in chemical analysis, in making pigments for paints (enamels), dyes and inks, as a fungicide, and to make other chromium compounds and in metal pickling and plating. Do you weld or work in manufacturing? It can be used in pyrotechnics. It can be used in portable aerosol fire extinguishers. It is used for coloring maple wood and maple veneer. It can be used in cement composition. It can be used as an anti-corrosive. Interestingly enough, it looks like it is used as an oxidizing agent in the processing and manufacturing of some opioids. So there are multiple ways for you to be exposed and have an allergic reaction.
