I have ben reading the postings on this page and they are very interesting but I have not seen one where anybody mentions that they have Diabetes. I just stated on Fortesta on the 19th and my levels are 300. I have notice that my memory is not as sharp any more. I just turned 50 and lately I have ben feeling down no energy. Does anyone here has the same issues? I like to know if this gel will work for me he put me on 2 pumps in the morning. Thanks.
Welcome.. There is an entire section for diabetes. Very common. Both type 1 and 2. I have type 2. Medication induced. the medications i take for my illness happen to raise blood sugars. Go figure. Many ways to get there. Many ways to get away from it.
Your blood sugars are very high. It is time to visit with a dietician to find what needs changing in your diet. As you know the insulin does not take the place of reversing the eating of high sugar foods. That leads to all the confounding problems of blindness, nerve pain, amputations. Nasty stuff. Many type 2 can control their diabetes through diet. Since you have two pumps, there remains work for you to do. The side effects you feel, headaches, sweats, dizziness, energy and thinking are from prolonged high sugars. Use it as your wake up call. You won't get a better one. I want my brain to last. Long time. I want my body to remain whole. Those things are given up if we don't work at it.
So please ask away your questions about diet, exercise, weight loss and all the things you can do to start healing. It really can be done. Just breaking a few habits once in a while will help tremendously. The progress you can make over the next year can save you from misery. We are here for support and here to answer questions. Stay strong and ask away. Karen
