I am on blood pressure medicine but my pressure is still high... I stay away from salt... my pressure was 179 over 98
Your blood pressure should not remain this high. If it doesn't lower in 24 hrs. please contact your Dr. as s/he may want to adjust your medicine.
Foods to lower BP: beans, especially white; pork tenderloin; fat-free plain yogurt; tilapia; kiwis; peaches; nectarines; bananas; kale; red bell peppers; broccoli; sweet potatoes; baked white potatoes; quinoa; avocados; sunflower seeds; spinach; low-fat milk; blueberries; vegetable burgers rather than beef; sipping beet juice; soybeans; dark chocolate. 20 min. of sunshine daily for vitamin D.
You sound like me, I told my cardiologist I stay away from salt, because I don't use it when I cook or eat or eat obviously salty foods, he said read labels. There is so much sodium in prepared things like canned foods and frozen meals. It sounds like you aren't on the right meds yet.
