I’ve been on Antabuse since just before Thanksgiving. I haven’t had anything to drink, but I often feel queasy, I think because of food. I’ve noticed it with vinegar on salads, or in sauces like sriracha or possibly even ketchup. Has anyone else noticed a (possible) connection with foods like that?
AlanCW; No your not imagining this. You also have to watch mouth rinse, cologne, Deodorant pretty much anything your using I can see where Vinegar could set some off see some are more sensitive to the Antabuse than others and it sounds like this case with you. So you're going to have to check all bottles of dressing and misc foods. I would say google what foods do I have to avoid while on Antabuse. the more you know the better see when you have this kicked all it can take is one of these stinking things to set you off again. I commend you for your effort and if you can't find anything please let me know and I will help you out more. AND Alan on this site we have a good and FREE support group they don't know who you are so it will be worth joining just to read some of the others but you sound very serious of getting off alcohol so you can tell the ones that are just going through the movements. and Congratulations to you. For the support group, you will see a search bar at the top just type in the name of the drug and you will hit enter then look at what all is listed that is there and look for the support group. And also you could ask the same question in our search bar at the top. any troubles please let me know and I will see what I can find for you. Hang in there buddy you're doing the right thing.
Hi Alan, congrats on your journey to kick alcohol!! I have no personal use of Antabuse but my ex husband did 15+ yrs ago. He was so hooked on alcohol he was court ordered to take this medicine. As you know, it can make you violently ill if you drink while on it. We found that a lot of milk products would cause him to be sick. Now whether he was secretly drinking or was really having a reaction I'll never know. I was suspicious but he did get sick many times after drinking a large glass of milk, so you may want to watch that. Once again, he was not exactly completely compliant, so the milk could have been his way of covering up drinking, or not. But he did vomit violently after drinking milk. Good luck to you and best
wishes for a New sober Year. Take good care of you. ChelleKay
