My case is so emergency. I live in Iran and we have a too unwell patient who needs emergency Fodaparinux. We found it but unfortunately the expire date is 7/2013 means a month age. I want to know if we can use it. This drug has been in refrigerator for 2 months. In addition how can we test it if its OK. please please answer to this Email as soon as possible.
The problem with expired meds is that they can lose potency and the preservatives may not be working as well. I know when I worked in a clinic, one of our Drs worked down in Mexico and he used to use our expired meds down there. He said they were still good a while past expiration and that the US requires expiration even though some meds never really expire if they are kept properly. I'm going to say in an emergency and if this is all you can find, go ahead and try it. The one you have is not to long past its expiration date so it will probably be okay.
