... rapid heart beat (about once every couple of months and the rate would be about 130 beats per min.). But in the past 6 to 12 months it has escalated to once a month at 160 per min. and last 24 to 36 hours. My doctor has switched me to Spiriva and the same result. Now I am on Flovent and same problem. I take a beta blocker which slows the beat to about 130 but it still has a duration of 24 to 36 hours. Any ideas as to how to combat this rapid heart beat? no other inhaler works very well
You probably need to have your medications reviewed.
Generally beta blockers should not be taken by patients taking Advair because beta-blockers have an opposite action to the salmeterol and can cause the airways to narrow, which can result in breathing difficulties.
Also, Advair should be used with caution in patients who present with pre-existing arrhythmias.
