Does Prozac cause insomnia my son has been prescribed this and hasn't slept properly since he has been on it two weeks.
Hi, Sophie! What you're describing is pretty common for a few people when starting Prozac (and most other antidepressants). The good news id that this is a transient side effect that usually doesn't last longer than a couple weeks so you're probably in the home stretch.
Let me ask, is he taking it at night or in the morning? In his case it would be best in the a.m. with no caffeine, soda, or other stimulants through the day.
Best wishes to you both, WCV
I have minor insomnia from it. I recalled a friend changed when she took it from morning to after supper and said the effect was less. I did the same and It's improved a bit. I'm still shifting my time to see if I can reduce it further, though it's manageable now. Might help your son?
