... night instead of during the day. Also how long will it take before myself and others to notice that I am not getting mad and defensive so quick and stuff
Hi, soccergod and welcome!! The reason that it's often advised to take Prozac (and other psychiatric medications) at night is that some people experience some side effects initially and you can sleep through them. The most common are mild headaches, nausea, and drowsiness.
Like most people, you may not experience them at all but if you do they can usually be managed with home remedies and they generally only last a few days to a couple weeks while your body adjusts to the medication.
Some people may begin to feel some positive effects earlier, but for most people a month is about average. Then it takes about 6-8 weeks for the drug to build up in your bloodstream to the most therapeutic level.
Try to be patient and not become depressed that you're not getting instant results. It just takes time but it will be worth the wait! Stay in touch with your doctor with your progress ~ you're on a starting dose so if it doesn't seem to be "kicking in* after a month or so your doctor may elect to increase your dosage a bit.
Please feel free to post if you have questions or concerns along the way. We're not professionals but we're happy to share advice and personal experiences.
Best wishes,, WVC
