I feel it may not be enough times per week. Do I need to do the full three months? Must I stay out of the sun?
Yes, you should stay out of the sun. If the treated area is exposed to the sun, the reaction to fluorouracil is more vigorous than normal, which may be unpleasant but the result may in fact be more successful!
You should follow the instructions of your doctor. If you tolerate the cream well your doctor may increase the frequency in which you use it. The length of time you use the cream will depend on how well your skin responds.
