Fleet Enema - hi, have serious constipation, but whenever I take an enema I always find it difficultto keep it in. should i always just keep it in as hard as possible even if i think it is actual waste coming out? previously done enema, i think kept solotion in for maybe ten minutes but solution came out but nothing else?!
I suffer from constipation also and rarely use enemas b/c they don't work well for me. However, when I do use them I have the same problem as you if I use it on the toilet. What works best for me is to get a towel or two and administer the enema on my bed, laying on the towels, on my side, knees up a little In this position gravity is not working against you. I have found I can hold for more than 30 minutes this way. Sorry you are having this problem. I have terrible pain w/ mine and have tried most every thing, including manual removal, which is some relief, but does not do a lot for the whole problem. Best of luck, ChelleKay
Noooo! No enema! My GI doctor told me to use Miralax, and it works, but it is so much milder on your system! If you check with your doctor, I think you will be surprised that you will be told that an enema is not the way to go! My doctor recommended ground Flaxseed, mixed in yogurt or oatmeal, it prevents constipation before you get to the point of feeling like you need to use an enema! Your diet can also help to prevent constipation. You can also use stool softeners to help soften your stools before you get constipated. Please consider these other methods and only use enemas after consulting your doctor.
