I'm 16, and I want an iud because I don't have to remember to take a pill everyday, and from what I've read online there's smaller chances of weight gain, acne, mood swings, etc. compared to alesse, but I'm scared of the more sever side effects I've read about, or spending money on it and ending up hating it. Or having my partner be able to feel it. But I've read way more reviews on alesse that are bad. I have no idea what to do. I'm not really scared about getting the iud put it, the pain that happens during is worth it in the end, I just don't want to get bad ovarian cysts or be in a lot of pain.
You’re young, I’d try some type of pill first. This way if you have severe reactions it is easier to stop. I’ve yet found a birth control pill that doesn’t make me crazy depressed. My doc wants me to try the “mini pill” which is progesterone only, BUT you have to take it THE SAME TIME DAILY!!! Her thought is if my body can handle
That pill then I may be ok with an IUD, that’s is progesterone only also. You could also try a combination pill, you’re still supposed to take it the same time daily, but you did have a few hours “wiggle room.” I’ve also read horror stories on the iud but everyone is different. I think once you get one most docs say a minimum of 3 months before they’ll remove it, it will take that long for your system to adjust.
