Taper off klonopin, my psychiatrist retired. I am afraid to use the internet to do it. I take 1mg three times a day. Is there anyone out there that has really done it and are the withdrawals as bad as I have heard? Thank you
Sorry 4 the late response as I wasn't on yesterday, are you seeing another psychiatrist? If you are not you might want to consider getting another psych to help taper you down the right way... even some md's might be able to help taper you, but if they didn't prescribe it I am not sure if they would want to help with something they didn't prescribe... either way I would look into getting another psych and tell them you want to get off of klonopin an tell them the whole truth that your old psych retired... best of luck to you an keep us posted to how you make out... don't no what type insurance you have or even if you have another psych yet, but if you don't you can call your insurance an ask them to refer you to psych near you..GOD BLESS..
I havn't tapered klonopin, but did taper xanax up to 8 mg a day. It took me approx 18 months. The main thing is to do a very slow taper at your own pace and small cuts. You will need to have a doctor to help you as you will need smaller doses. If you need send me a private question. Take care and be safe.
I was on other anxiety meds for 14yrs. A new doctor I started seeing told me to stop taking meds and learn to "control" my anxiety. w/e. Here's some things that helped me. Saint john's wart, kava, Advil pm, and a multi vitamin. I tapered off my meds and still keep them just in case. Reading forums helped. I felt crazy, scared, and like I was on an acid trip at first. It's been a month and I've only had to take a half pill twice. It's gonna be a long road ahead. But gradually reducing my dose for two months prior to stopping really helped me. Good luck.
