I've been on trams almost 3.5 years now . and it just seems as if I am immune to it anymore .it doesn't help like it did when I first started it .lately I am in so much pain I just can't stand it.. has anyone else been on tramadol and gone immune to it? also what did you move to next after trams?
It's natural for anyone to become accustomed to a medication that you've been taking for a long time. Explain to your Dr that it's no longer working for you and he can either increase the dosage or change you to another medication. I wouldn't go in and start suggesting medications to your Dr. That's a classic red flag to most doctors and likely to get you cut off from any meds at all.
Hi, as Lisa has said, yes, you can become tolerant to medication, to the point that you get no real relief from it anymore. I became tolerant to Tramadol pretty quickly and started increasing the prescribed dosage (the wrong thing to do) to get the same level of comfort. This could have been very dangerous! There are a lot of alternative medications to treat Fibromyalgia symptoms, if you type 'Fibromyalgia Medication' in to 'Medscape' you will be provided with lots of options that you can discuss with your doctor...
Tramadol doesn't work for me at all. I am finding natural treatments such as jacuzzi alternating with the pool. Gently exercising in water with very light wt lifting. Changing food intake. I hurt more with soda, sparkling water, and fried foods. Pilates is something that I need to restart doing and light work on the total gym helps as it mimics water. I am in the process of getting a steroid inj and looking at asking about marijuana drops. I have Purchased a juicer of veggies and fruit. These doctors dont want to believe anything that I say. It is disappointing because this has been going on for almost 20 yrs. Natural care is better but you need some money. I am trying turmeric cayenne pepper back pepper.. The best med was dangerous and it was vioxx and it worked great! It was taken off the market. I hurt everyday and all day it is terrible. It is a battle to work out too. I am not a skinny person either. Pain can cause wt gain too.. I hope that this helps.
