I was fired from my first pain doctor for missing a random pill count. Is it possible to be prescribed narcotic pain meds from a different pain management doctor?
You can. It is a pain and most docs want your previous records but you might be able to find one to take you on. call around to the pain docs in your area and see what they require to become their patient. Some want referrals from your primary, MRIs, previous records from other docs. It is getting very hard to find docs to take you on once you have been fired from another practice so if you find a new one, you need to be honest and if you feel like your meds arent cutting it, you need to be in touch with them to let them know. Most docs know that you are going to occasionally have a bad flare now and then where your pain is worse than usual. You just have to keep them informed of the situation and tell them what is going on so that they can help you. sometimes they will allow you to occasionally take a little more than usual. Dont be scared to be in touch and tell them what is going on. When you do this, they are more likely to trust you.
Keeping them informed is the best thing you can do rather than taking it upon yourself to make changes. Did you blow off the count because you knew you wouldnt pass, or did you go in and explain what happened and they fired you?
