Hi MS 4EVER, & welcome to the site. I only experience this in the colder weather, when the humidity in our homes goes down from having to run the furnace. Then I know it's time to get out the humidifier. It helps tremendously. Puts more humidity in the air which stops the static, & makes the house feel warmer too. I hope I have helped answer your question...
Too weird, I was going to ask this exact question a few weeks ago, and forgot! YES, I do the same thing. I"ve read (in on of my many fibro books) that we are sensitive to electric currents, so this doesn't surprise me.
You might want to keep your tea kettle on low (just check the water level often!!) when you are home, and awake. Obviously, don't go to bed with your kettle a~boilin' !! But it may help your dog! And your friends.
