... there don't really believe in fibro. And no one wants to treat the pain of it. What kind of dr should I look for? Is it a rheumatologist?
I goto a pain management specialist he is helping me a lot I get pain in my legs and back and shoulders a lot from the ms. I have seen him for a few mnths once a month tremendous help. He gives me 4 injections in my back to block the nerves in the center of the most pain (some people find it uncomfortable to do) but glad they did it 4 shots compared to the pain all month is worth it. He also prescribed an electrode thing that gives small shock like sensations to put on pain areas you adjust it to your liking so its quite relaxing and nt painfull at all. He prescribes me a few other pills to help the pain as well and pain patches very helpful you should check in your area for pain management dr's they specialize in just how to relieve pain.
Other general dr's aren't trained in a wide range of pain mine takes care f my jint pains from arthritis,my nerves, and muscles while I was there he asked about depression and gave me cymbala for emotional pain. I never liked to take medication now I'm on 5pills,patches,electrodes(natural relief),b12shots,avnex shots, vitamin d but I'm not in constant pain and enjoy sometime with my 10 and 12 year old children and do some walking with them now. Look one up give them a try I wish you pain free days and good days good luck
I understand totally what your going through. I have been with my Doctor for over 8 years now and he doesn't believe in Fibro either. He says I have chronic pain. I see him regularly, and he won't help me. He says "he doesn't want me to end up like my mother, because she also has fibro, or doesn't want to upset the apple cart, and let's just keep using the meds your on even though they don't work." I am on Topomax, and have been for years, they don't work anymore, Celebrex, doesn't work, Pristiq that works, Buspar that works, Ambien Cr that works. I was on Flexeril, but I got myself off of it because it was making me mean, and he won't give me anything else. I can't walk in the mornings, I can't get regular household duties done. It is awful. I can't do things a normal mother with a 6 year old does, and that's hard. I am only 30. I shouldn't have to be in this much pain everyday.
I also have degenerative discs. I was on Lyrica too, but they didn't work and they were making me heavy. And my doctor said if I lost weight I would be just fine! Well I am 5'6 and weigh 185 so ya I am overweight, but that is from the lyrica, and now I can't get it off. Plus I tampered with drugs a little over four years ago, and now I can't get any help because I am a "drug User" I don't know what to do either. I feel for you, so your not the only one in this horrible situation!
