... added the starter pack of Savella to my already( topamax 50mgs in am & 50 mgs in pm ) for the bad pain of my fibro... but i do need to lose the wieght iv not been able to get rid of on the other meds ... my doc says ill have more energy, better sex drive , and be able to lose the wieght ... does anyone out there know about this ,who has experenced any lose of wieght
Hi and welcome to DC. I hope you have a good experience here. I have lost 92 lbs. and kept it off. I am 58 years young and have kept my weight off for 4 years now. So... there is good news for older people, too, who think that the older you get the harder it is to lose weight. NOT TRUE!!! I did michael thurmonds 6-week body makeover and it takes that long to break a habit and to make a new one. It took a total of 9 months for me to lose that weight but it was broken up in how it happened. Within the first 6 months I had lost 54 lbs. then I stopped eating 5-6 times a day... went on vacation... blah, blah, and more blah and by the end of that same year had regained 15 lbs. So, I knew how to do this and was again mad at myself for stopping what I was doing. I started the program again and just didn't stop and I was getting married too. I lost the 15 I gained and kept up with the program until I plateaued around 92 lb loss later. That is how the program goes. You don't count calories and you don't weigh your food. Because you eat so often... honestly you are never hungry. When I stopped losing weight and my body adjusted to the loss I went back to eating 3 to 4 meals each day and that has been good for me. You still eat the same types of food so there is nothing to change at the end of it. Know what I mean?
I have been on cymbalta and topamax. It is a lot easier to manage your weight when not on medication that makes you gain weight. Also, when you are ready... just start. You don't need jenny craig's frozen food plan or weight watchers. Those didn't work for me either and they are expensive. What worked for me is understanding what foods were wrong for me and stop eating those. That was the breaking the habit part. It wasn't bad either. I like to cook and my husband lost 20 pounds. He is awesome!!! He didn't need to lose weight he just ate the same things I fixed. Yeah... that was it. Eating helps you lose weight. Starving ones self can also make you gain weight. Just saying because I hear lots of people say they don't eat much. That is actually the problem. Your body goes into "starvation" mode and will hang onto every calorie you eat. If you do not eat breakfast, for instance, I can assure you that losing weight will be tough. I can support you if you would like that kind of help but do it because you are ready and want to gain back the control of how you see yourself. I wish you well and I wish you joy...
