Dear Sparkle34, I have Fibro too. I was diagnosed by a Rumatologist in Atlanta, and he put me on a couple of meds for it. It was a couple of yr.s ago, so I don't recall what it was. Sorry. But my Pain Management doctor said he didn't want me going to various doctor's when he could treat it himself. But he isn't. I'm on nothing for my Fibro. and I really need to be, I think. My husband told me to just go ahead and go back to a Rumatologist, because he won't give me anything for it. I'm sorry you gained the weight. Some people just aren't very sympathedic when it comes to not wanting to gain weight. I understand this, because my doctor's have told me not only to not gain weight, but try and loose just a little, so it won't be so hard on my back problems, and my knee's that have Osteoarthritis in both of them.
So gaining weight does matter, and is a big deal to people, especially with meical problems, where they don't need to gain any. So I guess I'm in the same boat as you. I want to know what's out there that has really helped people with Fibro. You can write and talk to me anytime for anything. You're friend, Ruthie
Hi, i have also taken Melatonin in the past and found them to be very effective. I also took them alongside Valerian. The Valerian will help, but probably won't work on their own, and they will take a while to work properly, a few weeks to a month. I know you have said you want to use a natural remedy, but maybe discuss Amitriptyline with your doctor? They are primarily an anti-depressant, but are also used for pain relief and to aid sleep. I have taken them for many years, and they never caused weight gain for me. Also, they are easy to wean off from if/when you decide to. I take Seroquel and know i wouldn't sleep well without them either. But like you, they have caused me to gain a lot of weight : (
