I don't know how you would tell without one of those cheap drug testing kits. Knowing that pseudoephedrine is not allowed in your job, why not just take Fexofenadine which is an antihistamine and freely available. Antihistamines do not have properties that are addictive or habit forming.
I wouldn't risk a job over pseudoephedrine. In Australia, where I live, pseudoephedrine is virtually banned and people seem to have got used to that (I think it got replaced with methylphenidate (sp?)); I also believe this has been linked to false positives in some drug screens.
