I am on second day of fetzima, was on 225 of effexor. WEaning me off at same time. I have tried every antidepressant out there. I have MTHFR gene mutation which causes negative reactions to a lot of meds. I am hoping and praying this works. I am Bi-polar, major depressive, PTSD and anxiety. For three years now also have chronic fatigue syndrome which there is no cure and its downright depressing. Haven't been able to work in years yet keep getting denied disability . This has got to work, i am getting out of options. What about side effects i am so prone to them its like I am just waiting for something to happen.
Hi, gal! You must feel like you a hopeless mess, but that's not true. Many people have has to face this struggle and you might be surprised how many win. I know because I used to feel like you.
As with most SSRI and SNRI antidepressants, it may take about a month before you start to feel significant improvement although some people begin feeling a bit better sooner. It will take several months of sustained therapy before you reach a therapeutic level in your bloodstream. Your doctor will probably re-evaluate you in a few weeks and may want to up your dose to the maintenance levels.
Side effects most commonly are nausea, headaches, dizziness, and anxiety can sometimes worsen. But the side effects, if they occur, generally only last a few days to a couple of weeks and can usually be managed well with OTC and home remedies such as crackers and ginger ale for stomach upsets.
Try not to dwell on the negatives ~ it's self-defeating and will just drag you right down into the pit. Brighter days are ahead!

Great Answer WCV; And shygal there are alot of people that go through this same medication problem then finally find the right combination of medication so never give up. Remember because your taking the new medication and coming off of Effexor you may feel some symptoms even more but they well go away. It sometimes hard to tell which medication is doing what. Just try and ride it out and do what WCV said for the minor side effects that you can get under control. hope this does it for you. Keep after the disability also hope you are using a lawyer now it cost next to nothing at least for me but unless they get you on disability the cost is little and better success
shygal; here is some info also if you want to look into it,Don't be shy to help stretch out the money. While you are waiting for your claim Chuck1957
