Worked my way up to 50mcg fentanyl patch 48hrs and 5 norco(hydrocodone) 10/325 a day. My pain has been increasing so I had read a lot of people with chronic pain(mine due to fibromyalgia,RA, endometriosis and 2 serious car accidents) they tried percocet (oxycodone) for breakthrough pain. The percocet is giving me really bad side effects and not helping with the pain. So I was wondering what other chronic pain sufferers have tried along with the fentanyl for the most effective pain relief.
Any short acting/immediate release pain medicine can be used, there is morphine IR, dilaudid IR, oxymorphone IR, etc or you might need to jump to the 75mcg/hr Fentanyl patch and stay with the Norco if you are unable to tolerate stronger IR meds like oxycodone (Percocet is oxycodone along with acetaminophen and would be the most logical next step up) What kinds of problems are you having with the Percocet?
