On July 28th 2016 I was grocery shopping at popular grocery store. As I was walking with my basket in hand I walked down isle of the store seconds later I'm on the floor on my knee and bent foot and ankle. Then I realized there was some kind of liquid on the floor. I pulled myself up and I was shocked about what just happened to me. My pants were wet from the liquid and my knee hurt pretty bad and my foot hurt and ankle to .My left foot and ankle were also wet. Then I looked around to see if anyone else was in the isle to warn them of the wet floor. I picked up the item I wanted in that isle. Also there were no wet floor signs in the isle. If I had seen any sign of course I would have been more cautious of any spill. Next I proceeded to the self-check out. I told the lady at the register what just happened to me and asked her if someone could clean it up so someone else won’t fall like I did. She said okay and left. She didn't even ask me if I was okay. Then I left the store in pain and upset. I drove home and put my groceries away. Then I realized maybe I should do an incident report then I drove back to the store. I asked for a manager and told her what happened. She asked me to fill out a customer description of incident. She did ask if I was okay I said that I was in some pain. A couple of days later my left foot started to swell and hurt so much I could hardly walk. My foot was also red and bruised and so was my right knee. I put ice on my foot with no relief so I decided to go urgent care on 07/31/16 because I couldn't take the pain anymore. I can’t even wear my shoes I had to buy a pair of flip flops so I didn’t have any pressure on the top of my foot. So I went to urgent care they took x-rays of my foot. No broken bones, but it was a bad sprain. The doctor rapped my foot and gave me 2 types of medication to take. She also told me to stay off my foot and gave me a letter to take 2 days off from work. Which I did and I do not have PTO so I missed 2 days of income and now I have a medical bill because of the stores negligence. I'm extremely upset about this because they called me 3 weeks later telling me they are not negligent. They will not compensate any loss of income or any medical bill. 4 weeks later I'm still in a lot of pain and cannot put any pressure on my left foot without being in pain. Now I'm stuck with a medical bill and lost wages. They said the spill happened 3 or 4 minutes before I fell. But this is not my fault why should I have to suffer. I feel this is very unfair to treat loyal customer like this. This whole ordeal has been very traumatizing and depressing to me, because I have been in pain for 4 weeks now. I feel like they don't care about me the customer that shops at their store all the time. I don't want anything from the store just my lost wages and my medical bill paid. Any advice would be great I'm sorry so long. Thank you !
