i have swollen calluses on the bottom of my feet. I stay on my feet constantly due to my job. What can i do to reduce my feet from swelling & getting sore. The pain is a 8. When i got a pedi today I almost cried due to the pain of the calluse remover ...
In general, swelling lessens when you can elevate your feet. After work or possibly at lunch break, try to elevate your feet above your heart. You may have to do one at a time. Even if you can't get them that high, elevation at, say, waist height still helps. Usually the left foot will need the most elevation, just compare them visually.
I bought a new tool you can use that runs on battery power and has a roller that abrades extra skin like calluses away. It grinds the excess skin off in a fine powder & didn't hurt me at all. I also had some callouses and foot swelling. You can decide if decreasing the size of the calluses would be helpful. If you decide to try it, don't abrade it all at once, you could have difficulty walking or standing since it's part of your job. Do it in several sessions a few days apart to see how your feet tolerate each session. It's easy and you can get the tool at WalMart, I believe. There are 2 products at $15.00 and $32.00 near the checkouts, with one labelled "as seen on TV".
Your job demands are proving harmful & painful to your feet and I can recommend that you look for ways to work less on your feet in the future. You can't keep this up long term without paying too high a price.
