... meds for over 18 yrs. My father is a 79 yr old man and the pain meds are just not helping anymore, he is afraid to up his oxycontin dose to 80 mg as suggested by his pain speacalist. Is there something else he could take between his oxcycontin 60 mg dose that is stronger that the Endocet for breakthru pain?
I agree with Kaismama. It sounds like he's built up a tolerance to his current meds and they need to be adjusted. If his doctor is recommending an increase, you can always try it and see if it helps him. If he has difficulty with the new dosages, contact his doctor right away. Meds can always be adjusted to suit the patient's needs. Sometimes its just trial and error to find what works for the patient. I wish you luck.
