High Heart Rate. I'm on Metoprolol 25mg twice daily for heart rate & Lisinopril 10mg/12.5mg twice daily for high blood pressure. Been on both for a few months now, with no problems. Also I'm on Gabapentin 300mg 3X daily for nerve damage right foot & take Tramadol 50mg 1tab. every 6hrs. for pain. lately I notice my pulse is fast. Just wondering if fast pulse & high heart rate are the same?
yes, pulse is the same as your heart rate. The contraction of the heart muscles is what "pulses" the blood through your body. If you are on metoprolol and you heart rate is still fast, you should see your Dr. as he probably needs to increase your dose. Metoprolol is a beta blocker and when you are successfully beta blocked, your heart rate shouldnt be more than the upper 70's at rest. I have both high HR and high B/P and I take Atenolol and HCTZ (which is combined with your lisinopril-that is what the 12.5 is-the HCTZ, lisinopril is the 10mg in 10/12.5mg) and this combo helps keep both my B/P and my HR normal. It is rare that my HR is above 80bpm.
