Hi my family at ddc,has anyone tryed that new E Cigarette yet?
Added 25 Jul 2012:
Hi family,I tryed chantix and it made me really sick. but I know people who said it worked great. then I tryed "the patch" and it was only the middle mg one. not even the strongest mg. then I felt my heart pounding like a drum,it scared me so I ripped it off one hour into wearing it I'm not saying chantix ,the patch or the gum is bad or they dont work. They were just not for me. So I'm gonna give this E cigarette a try. I just wanted to thank everyone for all their great responses. Its nice to have friends here at drugs.com.
Yes I have tried it.. I know alot of people that have quit smoking and switched to the E cig... Its helped alot of people.. My step mom smoked for most of her life and she discovered the E cig and has been smoking only that for about a year now.. I know about 5 people that have quit smoking by switching to this cig.. It works wonders. It takes some getting used to because it doeant have all the cemicals and tabacco inside it but its awsome! :) They have regular ones and also menthol ones as well...
Are you speaking of the "fake" cigarette that has a touch of nicotine in it and blows water vapor out when "smoking" it? If so, hubby has tried it with not much success I'm afraid. We are both trying to stop, I prefer chantix and he prefers the nicotine gum. We both have had success with both. But, as you know, there is a big psychological issue along with the nicotine withdrawal. As we are trying to quit together, I'll let you know how it goes. We have both quit in the past, just something happens and we pick up one ... like we never quit.
Good luck in your most difficult endeavour,
Yes. I have one of those. It seems the concept is a great idea, whether it works for me or not remains a mystery. I have not fully committed to the E cig.If I were you and you're serious about quitting I would definitely try it though. I do know a couple of heavy smokers that have smoked all of their life that have indeed quit. Worth a try.. Good Luck!
Hey Sub and thanks for making this "conversational" because I love to CONVERSATE!!! A lady friend of my sister who happens to be a lively and lovely 80 year old decided after her husband passed that she wanted to quit smoking so she could walk the golf course instead of riding in a cart! She has successfully quit smoking and uses the e-cig just like she would if she had a cigarette between those fingers. She showed me the whole kit and how it worked. She just sat there in front of my sister and I and sucked on that thing like she was having a satisfying cigarette with her cup of coffee. As far as habits go... this is a hard one but at least her new habit isn't going to kill her! She just laughs the whole thing off as she talks with this thing hanging out of her mouth. She says she gets the satisfaction and psychological stimulation from it. She says she can smell what she is cooking now and everything tastes better.
She says her "eyes" are telling her this is a cigarette. The inhalation of the e-cigarette and blowing out the steam is just as gratifying. I know I am relaying information from my own perspective but if an 80 year old can quit this way and find it satisfying and easier than she thought... I would tell you to give it a try and use it just like you would a regular cigarette. She says using it that way is like faking out your brain because nothing has changed. She smoked at breakfast so that is what she did with the e-cig... she smoked in her car so she does that, too, with the e-cig. Good luck and happy puffing!!! You are making a great decision about your health!
Good for you Pete!! Seriously, I really admire people who are smokers, and give it up. I watched my father die at 47, and he REFUSED to give it up, and my mother finally gave it up, but unfortunately too late. Too many loved ones are lost because of tobacco companies, and their awful propaganda to get people smoking. I wish you the very best of STRENGTH, not luck, because you have to be a strong person to go through with this!! I'm rooting for you!!
Hey Sub... I have also tried the E cigs and they were good at first. Nice refreshing diff from real cigs. I tried to quit but right now my nerves are kinda shot so I still am smoking reg. cigs. I wish you lots of success in your endeavors. Quitting isn't easy, but it is what you make of it. Hang in there and take care!
Honestly... I quit smoking with Chantix not long before I actually heard of it! I have had great success with Chantix, (although some people don't), but if that wasn't the case I would have tried the E Cigarette because I have 5 friends who have used it and 4 of them are not smoking at all!! and that includes the ECigarette... they used the E Cigarette to go completely off of Nicotine... :)
I switched to them in May. They are great, and they come in flavors, lolol... they are cheaper then cigarettes too, after the initial cost. It cost me $100 for the starter kit, which was the battery, 5 cartridges and the chargers. After that I spend $60 a month for cartridges, and I smoked 2 packs a day. There are so many places you can't smoke and I was tired of little holes in my clothes from sparks, besides the obvious benefits of not putting all the poisons in your system.
