I was on paxil for 12 years at 10 mg. Worked great. Went off 2 years, now trying again. Started 5 mg for 1 week , then went to 10 mg. I am on my 20th day of 10 mg and 27 total. Still not working right. How long should I hang in there
Sometimes when you go off a med and back on they do not work as well. There are also times that an antidepressant will just stop working especially if used over an extended period of time. If you can tolerate another couple of weeks, it may kick in. Hope you start to feel better soon :)
Hi, P-n! It takes 3-4 weeks to build up to effective levels and 6-8 week to reach therapeutic levels so you might want to give it a bit longer.
Also, since 20mg/day is the standard loading (initial) dose and 50mg/day the maximum dose you might want to speak with your prescribing physician about a dosage adjustment.
Best wishes to you, Wildcat
